Family healthcare from pregnancy to childhood
Growing a family comes with many changes, from planning for pregnancy and welcoming a newborn to caring for children as they develop. We understand that each stage can bring new questions and needs, which is why we offer a wide range of maternal and child health services. From antenatal to postnatal care and everything in between, we are here to support you through it all. With a welcoming space where you can see the same GP at each visit, you can have continuity of care with a doctor who understands your health and your family’s needs.
What we offer
Our maternal and child health services
Care for every stage of family life, delivered by a GP who takes the time to listen and follow through.
Pregnancy planning and counselling
Starting a family is a big step, and there’s a lot to think about before pregnancy. Our preconception care is centred on you, taking the time to understand your health and what you hope for as you plan for pregnancy.
Antenatal care and GP shared care
Through GP shared care, you can see a familiar face for most of your pregnancy visits, while staying connected to your hospital team. We monitor your health and your baby’s progress, and refer you on if anything needs specialist input.
Postnatal care
The early weeks with a new baby can be a lot to take in. We check in on your recovery, feeding, mood and your baby’s early development, so you are not alone as you adjust to life with your newborn.
Maternal mental health
Not every part of becoming a parent feels the way you expect it to, and that is normal. But if you are finding things tough, our team is here to listen without judgement and help you find the right support.
Baby and child health checks
Regular check-ups make it easier to catch any concerns early. We monitor your child’s growth and development at each stage, and take the time to talk through anything on your mind.
Childhood immunisations
Our team keeps your child’s vaccinations on track in line with the National Immunisation Program (NIP), and we are happy to answer any questions you have before or after each visit.
Developmental and behavioural concerns
Every child develops differently, and sometimes a parent’s instincts are the first sign that something needs a closer look. At Lawnton Medical Centre, you don’t have to wait until the next routine check-up to raise concerns. We are here to provide guidance when you need it.
Women’s health and family planning
We offer a comprehensive range of women’s health services, from contraception and cervical screening to general reproductive health, all handled with care and privacy, under one roof.
